Camp FAQ

What is Camp Del-Haven all about?

Camp Del-Haven is a non-profit organization that has been providing free camping to children for over 60 years.  Any child between the ages of 6 and 12 is welcome to attend camp. Because our organization is sponsored by various churches and individuals who are interested in the work, there is no charge for your child to attend camp.

The camp program is run by a well-trained group of volunteers who have dedicated their time and skills toward providing a wonderful week of camp for your child.  The camp is recognized by the state and federal government as a non-profit Christian ministry that is run by a local board of directors who are also involved in the work.

Where is Camp Del-Haven located?

Camp Del-Haven is located on 40 acres of land in rural Lone Jack, MO.

What kind of amenities does Camp Del-Haven offer?

The grounds are facilitated with a dining hall, chapel, four cabins, shower house, craft cabin, shelter house and a dormitory with indoor bath facilities.  As part of our outdoor program we also have a basketball court, swimming pool, ball field, small lake and hiking trails.

What kind of activities does Camp Del-Haven offer?

During the week of camp your child can expect to experience the great outdoors through various activities, such as swimming, boating, campfires (with marshmallows included), and other outdoor games and sports.  We also provide activities such as nature study, crafts, and visits by special guests.

What about your Christian activities?

Camp Del-Haven is first and foremost a Christ-centered ministry for kids.  Our daily program includes Bible classes, Christian hymns and choruses, after meal and before bed devotions, and daily Scripture memorization.

What if the weather is bad during camp?

If the weather is bad, don’t worry. We have plenty of indoor activities to keep us busy.  In addition, we have a weather radio and a basement shelter if needed.  The safety of our campers, your children, is very important to us.

How do I enroll a child for Camp Del-Haven?

Space is filled on a first response basis, so it is very important that you submit an application as soon as possible.  Currently we offer an online application form that makes it easy for you to enroll quickly.  Once your application is submitted and received, Camp Del-Haven will send you a confirmation notice with specific information to complete the enrollment process.  Remember, space fills up quickly so don’t delay in applying!

Yes. We are able to supply transportation by means of a central pickup location in Kansas City, MO.  The location is at the Gospel Hall parking lot on the corner of Linwood and Lister (near the VA Hospital).  The camp sessions go Monday through Thursday.  Pick-up time is at 10:30 AM on Monday, and the drop-off time is at 2:00 PM on Thursday.
