Praises and Prayer Requests for July

Praises and Prayer Requests
Well, dear friends, our Lord has blessed us with two wonderful camps that have kicked off our 2016 season. This is a true answer to our prayers — both, yours and ours! That being said, however, let us continue to seek the Lord in earnest prayer the rest of the camp year. Please keep us before the throne of our sovereign Savior — staff and camper — that we may be effectually used by His Spirit in service to Him and for His glory.

We had a brief, but welcome, visit from our friends and family in Christ from Forest Grove Baptist Church. They brought us some food goods and supplies, as well as, some encouraging words and a short time of prayer for the ministry. We pray that the Lord will, in turn, richly bless them for their loving, faithful support.

Praises and Prayer Requests for June

The Del-Haven 2016 camp season is right upon us! Praise the Lord, He has supplied through many of you all new mattresses for Cabin 1. Our God hears and answers prayer and fulfills His good pleasure in providing for us through His people. It’s truly a beautiful thing! Thank you all for being there. Please keep praying for us.

We were in great need of trimming several trees that had many dead limbs that were a real threat of breaking off and falling to the ground and possibly upon one of us, or a camper. These limbs were way up in the trees. So several men from different churches (Heritage Baptist and First Baptist of Oak Grove) rallied to the task and rented a bucket lift to get the job done as well as gave of their time and expertise to see it through to the end. Honorable mention goes to Jack Chaffee, Heath Lytle, Carl Brewer, Ron Hayes and our own Jeff Hall. We prayed through this whole day that our Lord would protect these men from harm and be successful in performing the dangerous job…and He did! This work day was yet one more wonderful testimony of our great God’s presence and protective power among us!

There are still some tasks that need to be tackled and completed, but that will always be the case when striving for Christ’s eternal kingdom in this temporary world. Our Lord continues to bear testimony unto us that He is, indeed, with us to guide us, provide for us, protect us and preserve us…as we continue to pray and seek Him in all that we do. Praise His all glorious Name!

We also had a wonderful Staff Training Week. There were 18 dedicated young men and women that attended. Please pray for their preparation to serve the Lord on the front lines with the children that will be attending camp this year. We know the enemy will do all that he can to disrupt and even destroy any opportunity to proclaim the gospel of the glory only of the Lord Jesus Christ. Pray that we be protected from all the attacks of the evil one. Thank you in advance for your prayerful response. We love you and do pray for you, too.

Specific Needs

Specific Needs
It continues to be both a challenge and a blessing to operate a faith work in these times. Our budget keeps getting smaller and smaller, our needs seem to be greater and greater, yet we continue to be able to operate by God’s wonderful grace. We thank the Lord for all He has done and continues to do to sustain us, and many of you have shared with us in it. It is quite a testimony when people ask about camp and we are able to tell them that the ministry operates with no charge to any child, that all our workers are all volunteers, and our monthly support comes from a small, but faithful, group of friends and local churches.
We are currently, however, only able to meet the basic operational needs for camp. We have some specific needs where we could use a little extra help with funding to help get us through the summer camp sessions. If you would like to give toward one of these specific needs you can designate your gift by mentioning one of the following needs listed below.
.
Van Rental to transport campers from Kansas City ($200/week x 6) = $1,200
Chemicals for the swimming pool ($200-300/week x 10) = $2000-$3,000
Mattresses ($100 x 8) = $800
Recreation/Craft/Program Supplies = $400
Vacuum Cleaner = $100-$200
Many of our buildings need a new coat of paint = ???????

Prayer Requests for May

Prayer Requests

We are continuing to meet on Saturday work days to tackle all the yet to done projects around the buildings and grounds in preparation for this year’s camp sessions. Please pray for us as we continue to fulfill this much needed activity for our Lord’s glory.

We have already been in receipt of many camper applications via the internet – so our various camp sessions have been getting filled up. It’s a beautiful thing to see this manifest itself. We urge you all to please remember these children in your prayers – that as we work to prepare the camp facilities and grounds to receive them, the Lord will do His work in preparing the hearts of these boys and girls to receive His Word of grace.

Needs and Prayer Requests – April

A real need that we face is in regard to our Cabin 1 which has been invaded by mice. We need twelve new mattresses to replace what the little varmints have done! Each mattress will cost us right at $100. This is an expense over and above our regular operating expenses…so please bear this specific petition up to our Lord with us. Again, we thank you for doing so.

As we draw nearer and nearer to camp time in June, please remember to continue to pray for the children whom the Lord will intentionally send our way to fill up our camp sessions. Pray that they will be given ears to hear the truth of the gospel of God’s free grace through the quickening of the Holy Spirit. And, pray as earnestly for the ones that He sends to us to work with us on staff. These are the brave soldiers that will be right on the front line, day and night, with the children. They urgently need our prayer support!
