65 Years of Ministry … Thank You!

Well, dear friends and family in Christ, Del-Haven is officially embarking on its 65th year of camp ministry to needy children. We were founded by prayer — and we have been sustained by prayer. We thank the Lord for all of you who have faithfully and prayerfully supported us over all these past decades. And, we also thank all of you who have more recently been led of the Lord to take up the blessed habit and practice of praying for us on a regular basis. It is through these Spirit led prayers that we have been sustained all these years. Praise to the Lord for His great grace!

Looking Ahead to 2017

To inform you all of just where we are financially — we ended 2016 and have begun 2017 in arrears $53,444.72. Our present arrangement with the bank is one of having to make at least an interest payment on the outstanding balance each month. That is an amount of around 200 to 250 dollars a month. We were able reduce our loan principle by $100 last month. This goes slowly because this expense is over and above our regular expenses each and every month. Plus, we have two other very necessary projects on our list that include a much needed renovation of our kitchen and rest room facilities. We have established a separate account with the bank just for the specific funds to meet the expenses of both these tasks. We feel that we need the rest room redone before the kick off of the 2017 camp season. The amount we need for the rest room renovation has not yet been nailed down, but it looks as if it will run about $4000. Please be in prayer with us about the meeting of this need.

As always, please be in prayer for all the children that we have already ministered to and, as well, the ones that the Lord will be sending new to us in 2017. We are already receiving applications for this summer’s camp sessions. And, please be praying for the Lord’s choice where our staff is concerned. We had a wonderful summer this last year and want the Lord’s leading again for this year.

Thank you for being there. We love you and we pray for our Lord’s blessing upon you all!

Prayer Requests for June

Prayer Requests
Well, dear ones, June 2015 is here — and in spite of the camp ground being a soggy mess — we are once again ready to officially begin another camp season. Yes — we truly desire your earnest and devout prayers that our God and Savior will once again bless the heralding forth of the pure truth of His holy Word unto the children that He sends out to Camp Del-Haven. It is our prayer — that you all will be in prayer — for our staff and campers as we involve ourselves in this evangelistic endeavor.

We want to remind you that June through August is, indeed, our most expensive months of the year. May the Lord be pleased to use this reminder – however He wills and pleases – where you all are concerned. May all of your prayers for us – and gifts to us – be by His leading you to do so.

We have had — and still have — some unexpected expenses facing us where our tractor is concerned, which we rely on to mow the most rugged parts of the camp — as well as, we use to grade the ruts out of our dirt roads (which really need it after all this rain). Please pray for our Lord’s provision of this need.
He will provide!

 ——————–
Each year it is a blessing to hear from the parents/guardians who are delighted for their children to have another opportunity to come to camp.
The first camp applications of the year were received in January 2015 without having even sent out notices of the upcoming camp dates. When I contacted the grandmother about the current dates for this summer, I was told that her two granddaughters just couldn’t wait and wanted to make sure they signed up right away.
Not long ago I talked to another woman who sent her children to camp when they were younger. Her children are now sending their children. She was calling because she had another child late in life and couldn’t wait to send him to camp too and have her house filled once again with Christian songs and memory verses.
Seeds will be sown all summer long in the lives of young boys and girls and staff members that will attend camp, but we know those seeds can spread also into houses and can grow in the hearts of others and impact families in a great way. Pray for the seed of God’s Word to fall on good soil!

Prayer Requests – April

Prayer Requests

Please do not forget to be in earnest prayer for this summer’s total operation. Pray for the children — both the repeat campers that will be coming back, as well as the brand new ones. Also, be in prayer for the staff members that the Lord will send our way to participate in the direct interaction with the campers. They need our prayers for them to be spiritually prepared for what they will encounter. And, be in prayer for the overall peaceful smoothness of the whole Summer. Nothing makes ministry to operate efficiently — like prayer does! Our God hears and answers our prayers!

Also, please be in prayer with us concerning being able to meet the financial needs we have as we approach extra expenses during the camping season. After 63 years of ministry, the property and facilities are in constant need of attention. Chainsaws, weed eaters, lawn mowers, paint, rakes, screen/wood, etc. are always in need. Your financial donations continue to be a gift from the Lord which allows us to continue to offer free camping to all of our campers each summer and to be able to provide craft materials, chemicals to keep the pool clean, transportation to get the children here, printing/mailing camp applications and brochures, water and electricity, fishing gear, sports equipment, cleaning supplies, Bibles, teaching materials, healthy food, extra insurance coverage, medical supplies, and much more.

Spring Work Days Every Saturday

Spring Work Days Every Saturday

Well, dear friends, our 2015 Camp Del-Haven work days got off to a rousing start. We had 14 helpers show up from various places to tackle this year’s list of tasks. Our fellow warriors for the cause of Christ from Heritage Baptist Church were among the crew. We thank the Lord for their faithfulness to help and to support that which the Lord has called us to do for His glory and the furtherance of His eternal Kingdom. Please remember us in prayer in regards to the meeting of the many mundane jobs that of necessity must be accomplished in preparation for the ministry of the gospel in this camp operation. It is prayer that accomplishes what God wants done! Every Saturday up to June 6th is a work day, but anyone can come and help us on any day.
