December Prayer Requests

Please remember that the reality is — that many times — for many of our children — this time of year can be a bitter/sweet experience. Many of these boys and girls must deal with a less than desirable set of circumstances in this lost and fallen world. We earnestly pray that those who have become a part of our camper family will be led of the Holy Spirit to remember the love and salvation of the Lord Jesus Christ — that has been faithfully presented to them out here at Del-Haven. Pray for these dear ones.

60th Year Banquet – A Blessed Event

Our 60th Anniversary Banquet was a wonderful success! Every table was filled to capacity — we even had to break out extra chairs for the event! We want to thank all of you that came and made it such a blessing. We had an open mike for any person in the gathering that had a testimony of how that the Lord used Del-Haven as a means of His grace in their lives. There were shared many blessed experiences. It is marvelous to see and to hear what God has done!

Once again, we had book marks that were freely distributed — that had the names of children written on them whom the Lord had sent to camp. These were to be taken — and used as special reminders to specifically pray for them. This gets even our supporters — and the people who pray for us — directly involved in the ministry of the Lord in a child’s life. What wonderful thing it is. These young boys and girls need our prayers throughout the whole year — as they must face the pitfalls of life in a fallen and sinful world. I am certain we will ultimately see how our Savior used just such a simple thing as this — as an effective means of His great grace in His intervening in their personal lives and sustaining them.

Please continue to pray for us and our daily needs — and our staff — and all the children — as we continue to hold up the light of God’s Word of Grace in this dark world. May God bless and keep you all!

Marylee Carpenter played the camp song and gave testimony to how God revealed himself to a young girl and campers when a ring went missing and was discovered again in the Lake of the Ozarks.

A packed house of supporters, former/current staff and campers, and friends attended our yearly banquet at Pleasant Grove Bible Church.

Justin Dix shares stories from the first camp sessions.

Carl Brewer recounts special moments of prayer with Don Carpenter at Camp Del-Haven.

Mary Palmer is introduced as a former camper, staff member, and new board member. She gave a wonderful testimony about what the ministry at Del-Haven has meant to her and her family over the years.

Praises and Prayer Requests

As always — we earnestly ask that you continue to fervently pray for us! Give thanks unto God with us for the wonderful staff that He sent to us. They endured the record high heat that Missouri experienced — all the while lovingly ministering unto the children under their charge. We are so thankful to the Lord for each and every one of them! And, give thanks to Lord with us for the ongoing support that we had in food and supplies throughout the summer. I don’t think we ever seen such support as this before. Why — we started out needing two refrigerators — and the Lord replaced the one — and then gave to us two freezers — which we really could use! And, while the camps are going on — and we are quickly depleting our supplies from our food pantry — the Lord then sends out Piper Bible Church — who shows up with a food shower they held for us — and our shelves are replenished! What a wonderful Savior we have!

But, most of all — continue to pray for all the boys and girls that the Lord sent to camp this year — to hear the pure presentation of the gospel of the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ. This generation of young people have to face a particularly grim state of affairs — as we all know — and they desperately need our prayers!

Dear friends — our financial needs are noticeably more cumbersome than usual as well — especially since our tractor (after giving us 50 years of solid service) finally gave out on us. We had to replace it with another one which costs $2850. Once again — I went to the bank — and once again they responded favorably toward us. It seems we make head way on the one hand — only to get set back on the other. Please include in your prayers — the request for the Lord’s supply of this added need.

End of Summer Sessions

Well, it’s official! The 60th season of Camp Del-Haven has been completed! And, the Lord — our heavenly Father — has granted unto us — once again — a wonderful testimony of His great grace! Even though we definitely had our challenges with both material matters that broke down and had to be fixed — and with typical incorrigibility in a couple of campers — throughout the course of the summer — still the victory that’s only in Jesus — prevailed in a marvelous way.

A Big Thanks to Local Churches

We want to thank our good friends — once again — at Crest Bible Church — for remembering our needs with a food drive during their VBS Program again this year. We can’t begin to tell you how much this really helps! We praise the Lord for them. This has become a veritable tradition with them…which is wonderful!

We also want to thank Jim and Nancy Lyons and our faithful friends at Strasburg Union Church — who continue to help keep us well supplied with what we need. Their year round availability and assistance is welcomed and appreciated very much! We give continual thanks unto God for them.

Also, there is Pastor John Jones and his church, Faith In Christ Fellowship. His sons and daughter have served on our staff — while he and his wife, Donna, have greatly supplied the work here at Del-Haven with both food and drink. Praise the Lord for His working — through His loving and willing servants!

Well — all 16 bunk beds — in our dormitory — have been reconstructed, renovated and made ready to support their new mattresses. Of which — we only need 7 more to meet the task. Thank you for your continual prayers and financial support of this project. We love and pray for you all!

A Report from the First Camp Sessions

Well, our camp season has begun — and we have completed two camp sessions. And, thus far — your prayers have truly been marvelously felt and answered! We have had two wonderful sessions in which the glorious and gracious gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ has been faithfully presented — and also positively responded to. At the campfire session of the second camp (which was for older girls) there were many testimonies that were given — that were rich with the work of God in how He had captured the thoughts of these young ladies — and changed the direction of their thinking! More than one recognized that they have been on the broad way to hell — but now are on the narrow way to life everlasting in Christ! Effective preaching — God’s Word says — is “not with enticing words of man’s wisdom — but in demonstration of the Spirit — and of power.” We praise the Lord for the presence of just such a demonstration of His Spirit and His power!
